Welcome to My Genealogy Pages

This is the part of the site dedicated to the family history of my branch of the Downer family.

I first became interested in this hobby when a close friend of mine gave me a framed picture for Christmas explaining the origins and meaning of the surname Downer (see right).

With a lot of help from many people, whom I thank wholeheartedly, I have got as far as this, you can see the results of my efforts so far by clicking in the family tree link.

I am currently undertaking to record the main events of my life so far, these ramblings appear in the link to the right, which will be updated periodically. It is surprising how long it takes to actually try to document memories in this way.

As you can see, William Downer did give me permission to publish his Life Story. I recommend it as not only a personal autobiography, but as a window into times gone by. See what you think.
